AN UNWHOLESOME STENCH.
To it he Editor. Sir, —I am not a J.P., so Ido not keep pigs, ■nor yet know much about pigsties. except wheu passing the one at the bottom of the hill near the Waiongona bridge. Mr. Clark removed his sties, which were near the road, but where one person passed them fifty pass the pigsties complained of by Mr. Frascr, who deserves the thanks of the settlers for calling public attention to the case. The (Government inspector was sent to our place, it being stated that the five cases of typhoid that broke out twelve or fourteen months ago originated m that neighborhood. My wife gave him permission to iaspect both inside and outside of the hou.se. At that time we had no animals of any description near the house, and our back yard was quite as dean as any iu New Zealand, as it is now.—l arm, etc., GEORGE HALL. 29th March.
