F.H.C.S.. in a lecture at Auckland, speaking of radium and its enormous commercial value, viz., e:l.-JOH.IiOO to the lb avoirdupois, said he had noticed that a rich lind of coal hail recently been made in the neighbourhood of Whangaroi. If those engaged in prospecting could only discover pitch blende I from which radium was obtained I the ■oft. of a Dreadnought I" Ihe nation would he as nothing compared with it.
