VICTORIAN IRRIGATION SCHEME. Melbourne, March 27. The Water Commission is completing a scheme for the irrigation of IiOO squire miles in tlie Wiininera district as a cost of £IBO,OOO.
FEDERAL TERRITORY. Melbourne, March 27. The Federal Government intends to ask the Government of New South Wales for the transfer of a full thousand square miles of Federal territory.
CALIFORNIAN LABOR COMMISSIONER.
Sydney, March 27. Mr. Weinstock, a special labor commissioner appointed by California to study the labor laws'of the principal countries of the world for the prevention of strikes, has arrived and is conducting inquiries.'
IMPERIAL TRADE. Sydney, March 27. Mr. Wickes, the British Hoard of Trade representative met the Chamber of Commerce and urged the necessity of fostering British interests. His mission to Australia largely was to promote an exchange of the raw for the manufactured article. He is eonlident of a big expansion of trade between England and Austrilia.
