SALE OF RAILWAY LANDS.

There was a large attendance yesterlilay afternoon at ill'. Lot 3, portion of the old rail-1 way route behind thc premises occupied by Messrs R. and F. Aroa, was knocked down to Mr. W. H. Skinner, owner of (he adjoining property. Mr. J. U. Parker secured the 10-inch frontage next his freehold (.Mr. W. 11. (jreiner's jewellery establishment) for £BO. Mr. Ken. Webster bought an irregularly-shaped section (8.4 perches) near the Vivian street bridge over the Huatoki stream for £SO. The New Plymouth Borough Council purchased for street purposes : lot 14, having frontage to Leach, L'uudet and Lemon streets, the former sit;' of the stationmaster's liousc. The price was £SOO. The Council also bought lot 18, an irregular piece of ground on the west side of Cover street at its junction with Leach street, lor £4O. Mr. \V. Howiey bought lot- 10, On the side of Hover st. for £76. Mrs H. Stanley became the purchaser of lot l!lb, part of section 1841, in Molmworth street, with a fourroomvd cottage thereon, at £250, and Mr. tleo. Knight bought a quarter-acre section on thc seaward side of the railway, near the mouth of the llenui, for £73. Altogether, about seventy lots were offered.

At th € conclusion of the sale Mr. Shaw put up several parcels of property adjoining the railway lands, but not a bid was forthcoming.
