AUTUMN MEETING. SECOSD DAY'S RACING. The Taranaki Jockey Club were agai'J favored with beautiful weatlior for the second day's racing, and the attendance was probably a record one for the club. The totalisators handled £657!), as against £6070 10s las year, bringing the total for the two days up to £12,000, an increase of nearly £BOO over last year's figures. Ten bookmakers wero licensed, the money received from the pencilleri totalling £553 10s for the two doys. The racing was fairly interesting, i'erolina and Waihuku running a dead-heat in the Second Welter Handicap. First day's form was good to follow, Speciosa, Kareroa and I'erolina winning again. The stewards in-t after the farewell Handicap to consider the running of iloriarty in the Grandstand Haadicalp, in which Mr. E. J. Watt's horse rau indifferently. After taking evidence the stewards decided to take no further aetioa in the matter. The meeting was fairly well managed, and everything passed off satisfactorily. Black Banner was the first to show out from a good start, and led Speciosa, Somali ana Taupo past the hali-mile post. Wainiaria had rim into thud place before the straight was reached, and Golden Glow was a bad last. Black Banner gave way to Wainiaria alter leaving the straight and was out three lengths from Speciosa when the run up tihe back stretch was entered upon. Blaok Banner was third and Rookby next. Speciosa came well under puuisliniettt and caught the leader before the straight was reached. A good race home resulted in Speciosa, who finished gainaly, winning by two lengths from. Waimaria. Rookby was the same distance away third and Golden Glow next. Time, 2min 48 4-ssee.

Mulga Bill made a great effort to reach the leading, pair, but failed to sustain the effort, and gave way to Shannon Lass in the last furlong. Kareroa, winner of the Stewards' Handicap on the first day and the Grandstand on the second day, was sub mitted for sale by public auction after his win yesterdav afternoon. He wawithdrawn. the highest bid being £220. The reserve was £3-25.
