THE WALLABIES' RETURN. Tk„ w„n 1 • , . B ) ,<lne y. March 24. lhe Wallabies team of aihateur Australian footballers have returned, A big crowd welcomed them home. OPUNAIvE CLUB. lhe annual meeting of the Opunake Club was held on Saturday evening. The report stated that the inception 01 a western district was a complete success. The club put two teams in the held. The senior team won this contest 101- the division, but lost several games 011 protest. The junior team also won their competition, and had the misfortune to meet a particularly strong combination in the Tukapa juniors. With the juniors the club possessed last season no fears can b e entertained as to the s-ucce&s of the club during the coming season. The committee was of opinion that the success of the club on the playing field was largely due to the training room which was used weekly by the playersi The balance sheet eliOrWed a credit balance of £3 10s.
The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The juniors also voted £4 to the club which liadi been sent to them to defray travelling expenses to New Plymouth. The following players were elected members:—tMessrs Cannell, Moore, 1!. .McGarvie, Gould, A. Guy, P. Hickman, Manning and Saunders. The election of officers resulted:— Patron. Mr. M. J. Armstrong; delegates to Union, Messrs Gray ami J. Young; club captain, .Mr. J. Macfie; general committee, Messrs J. Hirkey, J. Martin, 1). Ross, I{. Mcatie, and others; selection committee, Messrs J. Martin, J. Hickey, li. O'Dea, team captains, and secretary and treasurer; field captain, J. Hartin; vice-captain, J. Hickey.
PIHAMA CLUB. The annual meeting, of the above club was held on Saturday evening, There was a fair attendance. The bal-ance-sheet was read by the treasurer, which showed a credit balance of 18s. The election of officers resulted:—President, Mr. J. O'Dea; vice-presidents, Messrs Riley, W T . Lambie, 1!. Lambie, juur., E. O'Meara, A. Martin, D. Campbell, W. Stevenson; secretary and treasurer, F. W. Mason; delegate to Union, 'Mr. J. O'Dea; general committee, A. Stevenson, S. Forsyth, Albert Aitken, J. Graham, L. Hooper; selection) committee, captain, vice-captain, and J. O'Dea; •captain, J. Forsyth; vice-captain, H. Barlow. The opening practice was fixed for Saturday, 27th.
