William Holmes, his wife ami two children, aged l respectively (four years and two months, were iound dead in bed. Holmes had his throat cut, and the others' heads were battered in. The man had used a claw hammer to kill the family, and then com'mitted suicide. Holmes had been unable to obtain work, and became despondent. It i<r*supposei! he coinmittvd the crime in a sudden fit of mania.
