A cable from Calcutta announces the death of Sir Sydenham Clarke's daughter. Mr. and Mrs. D. K. Morrison left yesterday for Wellington, en route to the JOid Country, on hulidiy heat. Om Saturday Mr. Morrison was entertained by his friends, who picsented hiru With a travelling rug and trunk. Mr. E. C!. Skelton, manager of the New Plymouth branch of the New Zealand Express Company, is leaving this week on a trip to the Old Country. Mr. E. J. llodgcr will act in his stead during the six months he will he absent.
