It is screamingly funnv. anil keeps an audience in roars of laughter throughout its three ,aels. flic story deals with the exploits of Charlie Shaekleton. a gay young bachelor, whose financial a (Tail's have become very winch involved. Tie receives a siibdlfliilinl income on the liiidersuwding that lie marries-and settles down, and for some lime past has made his trustee believe that he Jims complied with, these conditions. Unfortunately, for Mm, his trustee, Mr. Kershaw, a simple old gcnt'loinnii, "writes and says he is coining up to' London to see' Charlie and his wife. Mr. Kershaw is expected nl any moment, and Charlie must produce 11. -wife. lie'consults his man, William Tinsoii, who suggests that Charlie's fiancee, Miss Norton, shall be nslicd to pretend she is Mrs. ShackloTon. She refuses, and .Charlie, in despair, turns to Jane, hits housemaid, 'who consents" 'for a consideration to play the part. In the meantime William, with the best intensions, unknown to Charlie, arranges with Mrs. Chad'iijiek, Lucy Norton's .mnt. lo be Mrs. .Shaekleton wr one day only. When Kershaw Arrives hey are both presented as Mrs. Slui'fkilclon, to the confusion of everybody, 'fillings, get straightened out somehow, and .lane enjoys herself immensely, 'to the indignation of the other servants. Rvcrvthing goes well until the old gentleman asks to sec the babv. Charlie has entirely forgotten this item, 'bill ,i baby'is eventually borrowed from the washerwoman, just as William .once more tries to help'his master by making ,a clean 'breast of it and explaining The baby is all a myth. In the end everything is explained. AH is forgiven and forgotten, and Charlie and Lucy live happy ever after through t|ie instruiuentaTilv of their good angel. Jane. 'The Waitarii Thesipian- are a strong company of amateurs, and as they have given (lie jday five mr six tinier previously, a vrry fine performance should be given next'Tuc-ilav night.
