The grounds of the Proprietary Company's appeal are that .lodge iliggins introduced during the hearing of tindispute, matters vitally atlVctiug lift, business of the company, which the Court had no jurisdiction to deal with. The development has caused much disappointment. It is realised that the hearing of the appeal may delay the re-opening of the mine for a lengthy period. The men are again becoming restless, and rumors are rife that Hie companies intend to import men from Melbourne.
A meeting of the directors of the Proprietary Company decided lo test validity of Mr Justice Higgins' Broken llil arbitration award before the High Court at the earliest possible date.
