SEVERE EARTH SHOCKS
RECORDED IX WEST AUSTRALIA. Perth, -March 20. The seismograph observatory recorded a series of severe earth shocks yestcrdav morning. The interval between the preliminary tremor and the hrst long wave indicates a quake TIM) miles distant, its origin probably hemg in the Indian Ocean.
COSMIC PHENOMENA. GREAT STORM RAGING IN THE SUN. •Mr. Clement L. N. and S. from the equator), storms and abnormal weather. Note that already the Perth instruments have recorded earthquake action under the Indian Ocean. lam not specially mentioning New Zealand, and have no wish to cause alarm. 1 simplv mention astronomical facts in their'bearing on earth, and on account of the interest attracting lo (he situation. Those who have even HimiH telescopes should observe the sun by throwin" the solar disc properly focussed, on a "sheet of paper, not by direct vision, or they will be Winded.
