against all comers. Mr. James Jordan, of the stall' of the Stratford post office, has received notice of his transfer to Thames, for which place he leaves on Monday evening. Mr. Jordan joined the post office at Stratford some lifteen years ago (says the Post), anil during the length of his service Was, with short intervals, lleeu stationed in Stratford. .Mr. Richard Carter, collector of Customs at Wellington for some time past, is taking over the duties of secretary of the Department, pending Cabinet's decision as to who shall succeed .Mr. W.
