TARANAKI WOOL, SKIN, HIDE, AXD , TALLOW SALE.] On Tuesday, 'l6th March, I held my usual four-weekly sale, of above produce. The catalogue comprised 141)7 hides, 1384 calfskins, 4029 sheepskins, 176 bales, and 351 sacks wool, 75 casta, 7 barrels, and 80 tins tallow, besides bones, horsehair, Bowtails, etc. As usual there was a very large attendance of buyers. Bidding was brisk ■throughout and good prices were obtained, practically everything,, being sold at the hammer. Wool: Fleece and lambs' advanced about Vid to %d per lb, while pieces, emichings, and locks were y 4 d higher. Sheepskins 6old well at an advance of }fyi. to %d per 11). VIOKERS "& STEVEXS' UEPOHT. There was a good entry of sbeep at our supplementary sheep fair at Tarata on Monday. Old sheep were not m much demand, lmt young, sheep were wanted. BUIKSIDE STOCK. BLUIKET. Dunedin, Wednesday. At Buruside stock .market 2250 sheep •were yarded—a very large yarding. Owing to butcners .being fully supplied prices receded''from Is to Is Oil per head all round. Old ewes and uiilinished .wethers were practically unsaleable. Quotations: Best wethers 15s to ltis Od, extra 17s 3d, medium to good 13s to 14s Od, light and unfinished 10s to 12s .Od; best ewes 13s Od to 14s Od, extra ,15s Ud, medium, to good 10s to 12s Od. Lauilbs.—l322 yarded. Another good yarding, but not quite equal to last weekis. The limits of freezing buyers have been reduced considerably, and there was consequently very little competition, prices showing'a further decline. Quotations: Ucst lambs 12s Od to 13s, extra 15s 3d, medium to good 10s to 12s. Cattle.—2l7 yaidcu, a large entry, composed principally of medium-quality stores and heifers. Prime bullocks sold at prices ruling lately, but for unliuislied sorts ithere was little demand. Pigs. —110 yarded, a fair yarding, and the prices obtained being much the same as those of last week. AUCKLAND iSTOUIi 'MARKET. The Xew Zealand Loan and llcrcan-, tile Agency Company report:— Horees—At the Durham yardu on Friday horses were yarded in usual nuurbers. Draughts sold at from £22 10s to £32 (no extra heavy yarded); medium do., £lB 10* to £29; hacks and light harness horses, £0 10s to £lB. At Pukekohe on Wednesday there was a smaller muster 'than usual, which, sold at late rates. Dairy cows- sold at from £3 10s to £0 17s Od, heifers £3 to £0 3s, empty cows £2 2s to £3 4s, calves 17s to ".£1 lis, two to three-rvear-old steers £2 10s 'to £5. Beef, which was .yarded in large numbers, sold at Xi'wmarkel rates.
At the Xewmarket yards on Tuesday cattle of all descriptions were yarded in usual numbers. Daily cows sold at .from £3 15s to £1) 2s Od, empty cows ;£-l l'js'to £2 17s, calves 18s to £1 9s. The .beef pens were filled with cattle of nice quality, although no extra heavy weights were yarded. (Prices were' on a par with last 'week's rates, the. market perhaps showing a firmer tone.
