DISTRICT NEWS.
WAKEA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) A grand concert was held in the hull on Thursday night after the spoils. The building was crowded to the doors. A very good programme- was submitted and much appreciated. During the evening Mr. M.cGachlan (president of the club) thanked' the Sports Committee for the satisfactory results achieved, as well as Miss M. Corbett and her stall' for conducting the. booth, and the judge, and handieapper for in which they had di-charged their duties. Mrs. George's orchestra dispensed music both at the concert and da.uce. ..Master and Miss liook. 1 step-dancing was much appreciated. Visitors from New Plyjnouta contributed several acceptable items to the programme. After the concert the room wiis cleared for dancing, which was kept going until an early hour on Friday morning. The room was rather overcrowded for comfortable dancing. A good supper was provided. .Mr. W. A. Wiurucr made an able M.C. About Cl2 odd was taken at the concert.
