The Treasurer reported a balance of £991 19s 4d, and authority was given to pay out £BOO for primary euueatiou and £75 for secondary education, Applications were received tor permis- | sion to transfer section 7 block 15 Xgatimaru from John Digging to si. 1. Jury; and sections 1 unu 2 -Mangauui Town Kelt from the Registrar oi the Supreme Court (re Bint) to Albert McBeth. C. Simons was given leave to sub-learc to (j. G. Simons. The District Road Kngiueer wrote regarding a proposed deviation of the tvohuratahi ro.nl through one of tne Board's reserves. The secretary reported having 1 , upon the information of the ranger and the noxious weeds inspector, written to several tenants concerning the need for checking the growth of noxious weeds. Among tlie properties reported to be badly infested with weeds was a small area of land at ligtnout Village, formerly leased to a Mr. Carr, and now imleased. Arrangements might be made with the adjoining owner to keep the weeds down for tiie use of the laud, but it was not likely that he would carry out such an arrangement for very long. Mr. Majoi said that the Board must take active steps to clear the land, for a public body should not harbour weeds that were a source of injury, not only tc its own lands, but to the neighbouring occupiers.
The ranger reported that the Board s reserves whk-h ho hau recently inspected in South Tarauaki and aliout lnglewood were generally in very fair order, and compared favourably with privatelyowned lands. One reserve m tne inglowood district needed close attention on account of blackberry, ragwort, and oxeye daisy found there. —The re'port was adopted, and the ranger will be asked to continue to exercise all possible vigilance in connection with the checking of the spread of noxious weeds on the Board's properties. An application from J. Downs to convert his lease of sections 215 and 21G, Plymouth, was referred to the secretary, Alexander Brown wrote agreeing to the appointment of Mr. G. A. Marchant as sole arbitrator in the matter of the renewal of his lease. Accounts amounting to £OO 2s 4d were nassed for na.vmeut..
