GOLF.
PROPOSED NEW CLUB. A meeting was held in tic Town flail last night to consider the project of forming a second golf club m New Plymouth. There was a moderate attendance, which included several ladies. Mr. G. Grey was voted to the chair. In his opening remarks the chairman said that the promoters had made no real canvass, but had received many promises from people willing to jom such a club. , „ Mr. A. H. Steeds acted as secretary pro tern. .. 1t Upon the motion of Messrs J. llempton and L. G. P. Spencer it was decided to form a club, the name being left to a future meeting to decide. By resolution all present (fourteen) were constitued members without election. . . r , A committee comprising Messrs. u. Grev. A. H. Steeds, L. G. P. Spencer, and' A. D. Gray, was set «p to draft rules and to arrange for a suitable propcrtv for links, reporting to a future meetin". It was mentioned that then, was a possibility of obtaining links m a fairly handy locality on the Carnngton Road. It was decided that all persons present, or whose names may bo banded m, at next meeting, be elected members without further notice. Mr. Schnackenberg said there was a ereater eagerness or willingness to lorm this club than appeared from the present meeting. He could give the names of no less than 53 probable member,. The chairman said the flub would probably start with a membership ol Si Mr. Steeds said the Xjfli'«<*« Cl«l started with sixteen. For the first .jeai or two the links might not be perfect but the members would liavo to pUv ill with that. The bulk of the work conic be done by the members The meeting then adjourned till Tlnns day next.
