THE TRENTHAJI MEETIXG. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Trentham, Last Night. The final stage of the ■ championship series, out of which. 50 with the highest aggregates have to be selected for the King's Prize, concluded to-day, with the lOUOyds event of tie Canterbury Jlatch. The weather was excellent, but a filmy haze hovered over the .targets in the earlier stages and later a somewhat variable breeze prevailed. The shooting on the whole was good and some credit-
able scores were registered, though no one managed to secure the possible (50). Ncedham (Palnierston North) put up 45, which brought him up from twenty-fifth position to twelfth, with an aggregate of 440. King (Linwood) maintained ths leading position which he attained yesterday, though lie dropped a couple of points. Coming on with an aggregate of 354 and a score oi 47, made in the first stage, he added 41 to the final aggregate, which gave liim 452 to his credit. He was unfortunate in his fifth shot, as lie failed to catch the marker's eye, after getting four bullscyes in succession. Duncan (Millerton) and PatricK (Auckland) did not do over well at th ' range, registering 43 and 44 respectively, lmt they retained their former positions, second and third, with a total of 451 each. Shaw (Auckland), who started' out holding fourth place, went down one, and Guy, who was immediately below him, secured his position with an aggregate of 448, four points in advance of Shaw. who only secured a range register of 38. McConnell went up from eighth place to sixth, superseding Tarr (Karori), who is now ranked tenth iu the aggregate. Ching (Nelson) climbed live steps and gets to seventh rank, from ivhioh Soper (Taumarunui) fell to tenth place, while Ching (Wellington) went up from lourteeath to thirteenth position. Belk (Feilding), who started with 396 to his credit, cracked up altogether, andi only got eight on his range card. The changes were kaleidoscopic throughout, and seven men have now to lire off for the last two places in the fifty. Tip an "all but." Murphy (Auckland) andi Anderson (Auckland) were the only scorers of 48, and KebbeE (Alfredton) the only 47. Murphy won .the Canterbury. Match, with a total of 95, Needham (Palmerstun North) being runner-up with .94. Turner (Linton), with 93, was third. In connection, with the Service Match, Moslcn (Kaeo) won the Kynoch Cup in the firing off of the half-dozen ties.
CHAMPION TEAMS MATCH. ■The Champion Teams Jlatch was one ol the most important events on the programme, ,4ti teams taking part for district challenge shield. Opaki No. 1 team put up a Trentham record, winning tlie match -with the fine aggregate of 4%, out of a possible . 52a. The teams consist of five men each and average points per fihot work out at a little over 4VJ out of a possible five. The shooting was the most brilliant of the meeting, no few«r than 22 possibles being recorded. The highest individual scores were made by M&wley (Opaki), Hadfield (Blenheim) and Hawthorn (Wellington.), each with 101, out of a possible 106, while Sorenson (Newton Rifles), Yeo (Auckland), Mellor (Petone) each aggregated 100. Halliday (Karori) and Henry (Opaki) also aggregated 100. Sorenson scored tie possible at both the 200 and 500 yds ranges. A noticeable feature of Opaki's wra was the scoring of the possible at each of the three ranges by different members of the team. Black (Orepuki), Yeo (Auckland), Turner (Wellington), Irvine (Nelson) each won £2 lite each. A large number won from £1 to 10s. The following are the general aggregates in the Champion.
