FARM AND DAIRY.
The absence of rain in the llorowhenua district is beginning to be viewed by fanners with some anxiety, says the locaj Chronicle, for unless ine dry spell of weather now being experienced is soon broken by a good rainfall there will be a shortage of winter feed. The results of the severe snowstorm of Inst winter are now being realised more accurately by runliolders in South Canterbury than "wit* possible before. The imisleriii" on the stations is telling the tale. Mr .1. S. Rutherford Hilda that on his Mistake Station ill the Mackenzie Country lie has lost 0000 out of the 13,000 sheep he had running there. Mr PrinMe. of 'Richmond, lost about 4000 out of 0000, and generally speaking on those runs where the snow was worst the loss is turning out at a little less than half of the flocks. A compensating feature is that on most of the stations there was a good lambing.
