Auckland, Last Xiglit. The election lov tlif licensing committee resulted, alter the keenest contest on record, hi the defeat of tin- candidates pledged to a maximum reduction uf litenses, which would have entailed the dosing of 14 hotels. The Citizens' League (moderate) ticket was returned, the successful candidates being .Messrs. liagnall, llolaiulj Mennic, Soiucrs, and j Dr. King.

NELSON. 1 Nelson, Last Night. ' Only slight interest was taken in the licensing committee elections, which resulted in the return of the following out of twelve candidates: 11. Atmore, L. Pettit, P. Watson, It. McLaren (all in favour of o'clock closing), and P. Best (.Moderate).

WELLINGTON. Wellington, Last Night. The Alliance party did not run a " ticket" for the Hutt licensing contest. and there was little interest in the election, only about L~> per cent, of the electors voting. Tire old committee, namely, Messrs. luglis, J. Cotton, 11. E. Ryder, O. Stevens, and J. Cudby, was re-elected. DUNEDIN. Duncuin, Last Night. Considerable interest was taken in licensing matters to-day, each side being represented by live candidates. Ihe result saw the No-license party's ticket returned by a fairly substantial majority. In Dunedin South the No-license committee was also re-elected. It is understood that both committees I will refuse bottle licenses. I BULLEIt.
