ARCHBISHOP'S RACING STABLE.
AX DfBARKASsrXG LEGACY. The Archbishop of Paris. Monsignor Aniette. recently Tec-eived an embarrassins legacy, in the form of a racing stable. The testatrix was the Viscountess de Rainneville. who resided at the Chateau d'Allonville. in the Somme. anil in a mansion in Paris.
The yiscountcsLS constituted Monsignor Amette her sole legatee, much to Ihe Archbishop's surprise, for his Grace had no personal acquaintance with her. The lesaey comprised the whole of the lady's racing stable, which includes sevenl thoroughbreds, togeiher with a staff of ffablehovs am l ' n - 0 jockeys. A fresh embarrassment awaited the Archbishop when he decided to dispose of the horses, for on entrusting the sale to a well-known firm, the managers of r.nother establishment claimed the Archbishop's patronage, on the ground that 'they were Roman Catholics, while the others were Protestants and Jews.
