NEW ZEALAND EXECUTIVE. By Telegraph— Press Association. Wellington. Saturday. It was decided to give further notice and that a protest be forwarded to the Australian Association against its taking any action with regard to the Davis Cup competition without first consulting New Zealand. The following, rules regarding professionalism' were agreed to:—Any person is a professional who accepts rewards in any way of salary, commission, gift other'than trophy won in competition, or otherwise for playing lawn tennis; any person guilty of professionalism will be disqualified, but may bo reinstated by resolution of the council. The receipts at the Nelson tournament were £l9B, and the expenditure «148. The secretary was instructed to cable the Tennis Association of England asking that New Zealand's application to make a separate nation be withheld until I'urtheT notice.

Sykes' balls were adopted as the Association's playing balls. It was decided to send a delegate to Sydney to confer with the Australasian Association, to arrange a method to work together in connection with Davis Cup competitions.

Wellington and Canterbury, was played in Wellington yesterday, and attracted a largo gathering of spectators, who were treated to a fine exhibition of tennis. The competitors were in good form, and there were some closo games. Wellington won. by five matches to four, fifteen set" to nine.
