SWIMMING.
A NEW RECORD. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Swimming at the Waitemata Club's carnival this evening, M. E. Champion, ex-New Zealand champion, covered the mile in 25 minutes 42 seconds, or 48 seconds less than his previous best. The secretary and chairman of the Auckland Centre of the N.Z.A.S.A. were present, and will endorse the application lor a fresh record.
