.WAITARA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Mr W. F. Jenkins, the Mayor, was unfortunate to yesterday sprain his ankle. He is able to get about, but il is rather a painful process. Mr J. Laing, of the Waitara Harbour staH, has to go to the Hospital an account of a bad knee. It is feared an operation will be necessary in order to scrape the bone.
The Waitara Rule Volunteers have decided, to obtain a new field service uniform.
The monthly sitting of Magistrate's Court was held on Wednesday the 17th., when the following business was transacted:—H. Holmes v. L. Fraser, claim £ll Us. Id (Mr Wilkes lor plaintill'), Judgment for amount with costs 30s Ud. Te Kara v. J. W. Hickman, claim £B- - Od; judgment for amount, with costs 333 Od.; W. F. Newbery v. -Ned Eru, claim £0 2s, judgment for amount with costs 2Ss Ud; A. T. Lake v. W. Carroll, claim £4 los Ud. (Mr Wilkes for plaintill); judgment for amount with costs 28s Od; W. P. riuell v. Alfred, claim £'J 12s lOd; judgment for amount with costs 225; W. P. Snell v. W. .Hicks, claim £4 0s sd; judgment for amount with costs os; S. Sckultz v. 11. o'Donncll, claim £.lO (Mr Wilkes for plaintill): After hearing evidence on both sides, His Worship non-suited plaintiff and costs were given against him to the amount of £3 2s.
WAHEA. Allan's entertainers gave an interesting entertainment in the hall on Saturday night. There was a very good audience. Professor Silvester, with his conjuring anil lightning change acts, was very good, and the audience was surprised at his tricks. He also gave some vvntriuuruial sketches, introducing his hoy Tommy, which caused a lot of laughter. The animated pictures which were shown by the bioscope wore a iine lot. 111. St. Clair, the acrobat, performed some good tumbling exhibitions, and his high kicking was marvellous. Professor Silvester performed his mesmeric act of suspending a person in me air. . A local meeting ot shareholders of the local dairy company will be held on .Monday next' to discuss the matter of building a cheese factory, which has been causing a great deal of interest amongst the majority of suppliers, who will leave for Pimgarelm if a cheese plant is not iustalleu', some at the end |of the month. The school picnic will be held on Thursday next, 25th inst.
