TENNIS.
TARANAKI v. AUCKLAND. ANNUAL CONTEST. The fourth annual contest between team representing the Taranaki and Auckland Associations, was held on the Vivian street courts on Saturday under most favorable weather conditions. With the exception of a few bare patches, the courts were in splendid order, and gave evidence of having received all the necessary attention. Mr. J. I'aton and his committee are to be congratulated on l>he arrangements made, of which both players and ]>i|blie expressed themselves -highly satisfied, The match resulted ill an easy win for Taranaki by 21 games to 3. N.'Z, LAWN TENNIS ASSOCIATION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Mst Night. At a meeting of the management committee of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association, it was decided to accept the invitation of the New South Wales Lawn Tennis .Association to send a ladles' team to Sydney in April to compete in an inter-State match against tlie Australian States. The New Zealand ladies will also lie able to compete in the New South Wales championship events that will he held during thenstay in- Sydney. ; A strong New Zealand team is said to he available 101 selection. ' The annual match between Canterbury and Wellington provinces will take place in Wellington oii Saturday next, 27th February. The committee passed a motion ciding to meet Canterbury's team of six men Anthony Wilding), anil further expressing regret Uiat no ladies were being included in the 'Visiting eotnbination. and requesting Hie Canterbury Association to do so if possible; J tic !
