J. C. WILLIAMSON'S STAR DRAMATIC CO. Tho (first and only appearance on Monday night next of J. C. Williamson's Star Dramatic Co. is creating a distinct interest amongst lovers of high-class dramas. "The .Thief" is a play of which wo have hcarill so much favorable comment, thai no doubt can exist as to the result of its advent iu New Plymouth. "Tho Thief," a strong play iu three acts, from the French of Henri Bernstein, is spoken of as a novel, tense, modern, emotional play. It lias had a great vogue in England and America. The strong, dramatic story, which is told in a. clear, natural manner, is said to appeal strongly to ever}' degree of human nature. There are scenes in this play which hold one as in a vice, notably the great scene in the second act. The detection of "the thief," with the highly strung tensity of the acting, is described as being of a most thrilling character Mi«s Ola Humphrey, an old favorite, will appear in the arduous role of Marise Voys in "The Thief," 11 character in ! which .she made a. marked sensation during the Wellington season. Mr. Geo, Titlieniilge is sure of a very hearty welcome after his absence of ten years, for in the annals of the Australian stage his name, is a. household word. Mr. Henry Kolker. an American actor of great reputation, is another star of magnitude in the theatrical lirmnment and is said to be a, player of natural and convincing talent. The ihox plan for this performance is now open at the Collier and Colonial Piano Co., and is lilling rapidly.
