On Saturday we had a large entry of poultry, nearly every pen .being filled. Prices' were not quite as good as of late and were as under:—Roosters Is to Is 4d, cockerels 7d to Is 2d, good to 2s 2d, hens H 2d to Is 7d. pullets 2s to 2s sd, ducks Is 4d to Is !l<|, duckling 9d to Is.

L. A. NOLAN AND CO.'S REPORT. 'Poultry.—There was a good entry, and all lines sold at -satisfactory prices'. We quote: Hens Is (id to 2s "(id, cockerel. Is 6d to 2s Id, small do 10.1 to ] s (id. chickens 4d to fid. ducks Is- 4d to 2s 2d. ducklings Is 3d to Is lOd, turkeys 4s. geese 2s 3d to 2s Oil. A large quantity of furniture was offered in the mart, anil .sold at high rates. On Tuesday we held a clearing sale on! account of Mr. Grant, Moturon. There was a good attendance, and everything was sold to the satisfaction of the vendor.
At the sale of Skuttlcworth's estate on Wednesday's night there was a large attendance. Seven sections were sold at prices ranging from £lls to £l4O a section.
Fruit.—Large consignments are coming to hand daily. The supply has greatly exceeded the demand, and prices are consequently in buyers' favor. BUTTER AND CHEESE. Mr Newton King's weekly butter and cheese report from Messrs E. and W. Davidson, of London and (llasgow, under date January 7, is as follows : Butter—Our markets this week have again •showed firmer, and prices in most cases have advanced about 2s per cwt. Our telegraphic advices this week from Copenhagen! show that the morket there is very firm, and the quotation to-day has. been advanced 3 kroner. We quote Danish- and Swedish butters, choicfet qualities, 113s to 115s. Siberian butter : Current quotations 100s to 104s; Argentine butter 110s to 112s for strictly fancy quality. Australian butters : The arrival this week have been the s.s. Moldavia with 34,000 and the s.s. Moravian with 2.320 boxes. We quote 108s to 110s. with one or two favorite bTiinds in *ome cases commanding Is premium, choice quality 100s to 108s. New Zealand 1 butter: There arc; practically no spot grades on offer.! latest advices regarding the s.-. Papa-' roa, indicate that the great bulk of the butter on board lias Ibeeu destroyed, and wr believe it -to be the case that about 1(5,000 boxes were thrown overboard. Nothitag is being done with regard to sales ex this steamer until she arrives, which ia expected to be some time next week. The s.s. Corinthic. with about 45,000 boxes on board, is due in a. week's time, but importers with goods on board' are very chary of making any (irm offers at present, as in the present state o't the market the majority appear to think they will do better by holding off. The imports to the United Kingdom —The total arrival of butter for the iinst week of each year, during the last four vears, are as follows :—1906, 89.loacwt; 1907. G9,949cwt ; 1908, ti3.-581 cwt; 1909, 76,7C5cwt. Cheese—Canadian : Choicest white and colored are now quoted at 00s up to •02s.
