At the Supreme Court to-dny the trial began of Albert Edward Double, William Smith, and Alexander Walker, in connection with an a-sault alleged to have 'been committed on -an old woman ut the Auckland Domain. Double was charged with committing a more -erious oltencc than the other two, while thev were charged] with aiding and abetting him. in it. At 5.:'0 p.m. the evidence, which was heard with closed doors, had not concluded, and the case was ndjourneil tiM to-morrow, the jury being locked tip for the. night. PALAIERSTOX SESSIONS. .Palmerston X., Wednesday. In the Supreme Court this morning Air. Justice Cooper reserved for the Appeal Court the case of Andrew Ood'bay in whiieli the jurv returned a verdict ol guilty of common assault, but said that j "here was not sullicicut evidence to show who struck the first blow.
