XAI'IER HARBOR. By Telegraph'—Press Association. Napier, Last Night. At a public meeting to-night to consider what steps should be taken In view of this defeat of the Napier Harbor Board proposal to borrow £200,000 to complete the breakwater, the following resolutions were carried:—( l) That this meeting of citizens of Napier protests against the present system of voting on the question of harbor borrowing, under which the desire of the majority of the people to complete the breakwater is thwarted by a minority; '(2) that in the opinion of this meeting of Napier citizens members of tile Har■bor Board should be elected 011 a popular franchise; (3) that the Government be requested to introduce a Bill at the •coming session giving effect to the nvishes of this meeting, and that a com•mittcc be appointed to co-operate with •Mr. 'J. V. Brown, member 'for the town, in placing the views of the people before ■the Premier and] Minister for Marine.
CO-OPERATIVE WORKS ENQUIRY. Christchureh, Lust Night. The Cheviot correspondent of the Press stales that Mr. H. .1. 11. Blow, Under-Secretary for Public Works, holds a departmental enquiry at Domett to-.inorrow evening into the working, paving and so forth of the men on the railway eo-operativei works.
