'Dip police authorities Iwve made arrangements for Liu* care of the bodies that are being washed ashore. At seven o'clock this morning two mounted constables were despatched to thfl scene. They took with them blankets and medical comforts for the injured, Later on a sergeant and two move con-tables left in a motor car, and the Commissioner of Police expressed his intention of aU« going out. Some covins have been sent- to the coast, and the police will be stationed by the bodies li!l they can be brought to Wellington. Tt is intended to brin'* them round by sea as soon as t!i titer moderates but this opevaliun \\!.' be impossible this evening. The only other way to make the passage in would be by paekhuvse over nigged hill tracks, but this course is not considered advi-able. The Tuion Company is co-operating with the police in making the best po* sil»le arrangements for the care oi the bodies.
