Wellington, Saturday Xight. Xi'ws was telephoned from Mukara early this morning that the Penguin, had gone ashore in the slight, and, it is feared, with much loss of life. The I'nion Company sent horsemen over the hills to the heath to gather news, and, later, sent blankets in motor cars. They were taken on by pack horses along the precipitous coast. Tji-jUbs ibis boat turns up, no one who was in boats has been saved, except Mrs. Han nan,, of Xelson, and a youth named Matthews, of Spring Creek, Marlborough. it was hoped the last boat might have made Ohau Bay, but the Arahura, which went to the scene, visited the bay, and it was not there, nor had other vessels m the vicinity seen it.
