WAITARA.. (From Our Own Correspondent). . Sergt. C. 11. Sampson and Privates J. «olVe and McKoy, of the Waitara Rilles, will take part in the Taranaki Ride Association meeting at Waiwakaiho on the 24th and 25th iust. (There is again a proposal afoot to form a mounted rifle corps in Waitara, and I am assured that there is every likelihood ,of it being brought to a successful issue. The annual public school picnic takes place, on Friday at Ngaire. It is antics pa ted that both Wailu and Tikorangi schools will join in with Waitara. The local row ing clubs have their men in active training for the coming regatta. The Waitara men are doing consistent work, and it looks as if this year the club will have a return of luck. It is not an uncommon tiling to see seven or eight boats on the river during the evening. < The Clifton Rowing Club's crew taking part in the championship regatta left for Auckland on Thursday evening. Mr. H. Spurdle, secretary of the club, accompanied the crew. Mr. G. R. Croll, superintending engineer for Messrs. T. Bortliwick andjSons, is expected to visit shortly in connection with building additions the firm have in view here. They are putting up a storage room next to the canning works. Messrs. W. R. Wilson and H. Spurdle will represent the Waitara Borough Council on the Harbor Board for the coming year.

' A quiet wedding eventuated at St. John's Church on Wednesday afternoon, when Miss Margaret Elliot, youngest daughter of Mrs. John Elliot, of Waitara, and Mr. Frank Kent, were united in holy bonds of matrimony. The bride was given away by her brother, Mr. A. >EUiot, of Wanganui, and was attired .in a very dainty white muslin dress. 'The bridesmaids were. Miss Helen Lawirence, dressed in pale blue, and Miss Amy Lawrence, in pink. Mr. C. Old iacted as best man, and Mr. Kent as groomsman. The bridegroom's present 'to the bride was a lovely bracelet, studded with diamonds and rubies. The presents were both numerous and handsome.
