The New Zealand Hawing tion'a championships were decided at Alerter yesterday,, before' an attendance of over .'10(10. The day was delightfully fine, and the water smooth. The racing was keen, tiie ehamp.un fours providing a straggle between the Wnitemnta and Blenheim crews worthy of the race The Union (Christchurch) club's pair I (Fry and O'Brien) annexed the champion I pair oars and champion double sculls. | The Waitemata (Auckland) crew won the champion fours; and (J. J£. Stono, of St. George's (Auckland) club, won champion single sculls. The winners of the other events were well distributed Union (Napier) won the maiden pairoars and junior double sculls; Blenheim won the Auckland plate (senior lours); West End tile light-weight maiden tours and light-weight junior fours; North Shore the junior pairs and maiden double sculls; Waitemata the heavy-weight maiden fours; St. George's the youths' fours and maiden sculls (T. Stone); aad Nguruawßhia the heavy-weight juniors. The only unpleasant feature of the day was the foul in the champion single sculls. I'richards, of Auckland, rowed across four others when about half a \mile had been covered, causing them to stop. He gamed third place, but was disi|iialilied. Champion Fours, 2 miles.—Waitemata (Herring str., Magulre, Parkinson, Andrews) 1, Blenheim 2, Picton 3, Napier, Wanganui and Clifton also started! Won by three-quarters of a length. Time, Bmin. lscc.
