BY PROJECTED FRENCH TARIFF REVISION. Received February 14, 4.30 p.m. London, February 13. The British Chambers of Commerce are greatly stirred lately over tiie prospect of losing a large proportion of trade under the projected French tariff revision. Protests have been made that the declared charges are likely to damage the entente. It is now announced that the French Government has decided to oppose a number of the proposals ombouled in the Customs Committee's Bill, on the ground that they are calculated to unfavourably affect F'rance's relations with foreign Powers. The Committee contends that the Bill...presents only a million sterling surcharge upon foreign I trade compared with two million sur- • ciiarge on French trade under foreign) tariffs.
