PARIHAKA ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting was held at Kahotu on Wednesday. Present: Messrs. .1. Young (chairman), M. Dee gan, T. Harvey, <{. Jones, and <i. Tylee.
Wiremu Itoad.—T. Julian waited on the Hoard and asked- it to confirm the action of the Department in shortening the Wiremn road by an alteration in the Kina and Arawnita roads. The settlers hail agreed to the alterationAction confirmed. Ihaia Road.—Resolved that the Board pay £ for .£, up to £B, for the purpose of filling in a hole. (Deegan—Tylee.)
Parihaka Koad.—Resolved thai the Board give £ for £, up to £B, to* assist in repairing tiie road. (Harvey— Tylee.) Tenders.—The following tenders were (U'alt with: Kina ltoad, forming and metalling 70 chains: A. E. Magon £5 15 per chain (accepted). (!. Vickerv £5 17s, .T. De Castro £5 lßs (id, H. Corbel! C(i os. Cower Arawhata P\oad. getting 125 yards of metal:-11. Baker 4s !)d (accepted). Tipoka Road, getting 70 yards of metal: 11. fiak'er ."is (accepted). Ruakiri Road, forming 37 chains: 11. Baker 10s (id. Xgariki Road, formation: If. Baker £3 5s (accepted). Surfaceman (to reside at Opunake). - The following applications were received: ft. Moffitt. Opnnak:- lacccpted): W. B. King. Kahui Koad: 11. 1!. Thompson, Ifawcra.
Pungarebu Road.—A letter was read from Moffitt and Cioodwin re metalling of six or seven chains. —Resolved that the Hoard offer f for £, up to CM. for the work. (Yjiing—Jones.) Hen's Wages—The surfacemen applied for a shilling a day extra while working on the Ihaia road; a subsequent letter asked for a rise of wages to Us a day.—The members said as the surfacemen were getting Ss a day. wet or dry, they thought it was enough, and it was decided not to accede to the request. The foreman was directed to inspect Burgess road and report.—Mr. .1. 1!. .lack wrote stating that he would inspect Kawcora road shortly.—Mr. Robinson, surveyor wrote with reference to finding pegs on Wii'emu Road. Resignation.—The foreman (A. X Porteous) resigned his position.—Resolved that it he accepted, with regret, from the end of the month. Applications are to be called for the position. Accounts amounting to .Cl3O Os Oil were passed for payment.
