HAU'liliA M'OHTS. Tim lirst swimming sports of the scason arranged by the Ilawera Swimming Club were held nt the municipal laths on Wednesday evening, and attracted n large attendance. Large entries had been received for the various events. For the 100 yds. race there were twentythree entrants, for the 50yds. twentyseven, and for the 2ayds. twenty-seven. Details of the chief events are as follow:

XEW ZEALAND CHAMi'IOXSMP MEETING. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Tiuiaru, Last Night. The Xcw Zealand swimming championships were held in the fresh water baths to-day and largely attended. A feature of the meeting was tiro breaking of the records in the 220 yards breast stroke and the hall-mile.

In the 2211 yards championship, 1!. Heal (Wellington) wmi in zniin. 44sec\ by four yards from Champion (Auckland), whose time was 2mhi. 4Ssec, Dodge (East Clivistchui'ch) being third in 2min. 50 3-ssec. In the 220 yards breast stroke Itnssell (Sydenham), the ]iresent holder, won by a yard in 3min. 20sec., boating Truscott's record of 3min. 40 l-sscc. Cook (East Christchurc'li) was second in Siniii. 30 4-ssec, and Bull (Uichmond) third in .•Siiii-n. 41 l-ssec.

In tlie lialf-mile championship, Healy won by ten yards and put in a great raee. The time was 12min. 45 2-sscc, beat big the record by Bull of 13min. 2(12-."isec. Champion was second in 12 mill. 51 2-sscc, and Jlanhire (Addington) third in 13nih. 44 3-ssoc.
