Tho track, lawns, and enclosures generally were in perfect order for tin* meeting, and a vcrv enjoyable day's sport was provided. The attendance was huge, fully three huuI dred ahead of htsl year's, 'and probably a record, Investments were good, £7:jul for the day, as against £.">483 on the lirst day of last year's meeting. The investment of £1042 on the Egmont Cup constituted a record ior any one race in the history of the club. The racing I throughout the day was good, and the I stewards had not a single protest to deal i with. Mr, C. O'Connor must be uom--1 plimented upon the success which at- | tended his starting. There was so.jc aoiihle during the latter part of the day, when one of the legalised layers of odds refused to pay out on a double. The mont of the meeting was all that could be wished. The Egmont Racing Club has a set of stewards and officials who know how to cater for owners and 'publie alike, and in Mr. J. A. Turton the club has a secretary who has all th|</ necessary information and details of the working at his finger-tips; so that yesterday all things worked together to the desired end. The tfawera Borough Band, under Conductor Cnvin, played a fine programme of music on the lawn during the afternoon, including the contest selection, "Songs of Northern Scotland." Mr. J. P.
