Co., interviewed Ihe Postinasler-Oneral in respect to improving the Vancouver mail service in return for a larger subsidy. As a result it is proposed to increase the subsidy by t: 1(1,000, Canada's extra !>aynicnt being approximately £10,677, Australia's '"C7(iOS, and Fiji's .CUSO, making a total suteidy of £85,000. Tho contract will be for three years, from duly Slst.

In return for the increase, the Union Company will improve the service by additional ships ,that will give a speed of 14 knots, or 22% days. . The Postmaster-General states that while ho docs not object to the increased subsidy, he thinks it should not lie chargeable to the Postal Department.
