The visit of Lieut Knox to Masterton has elicited a good deal of sympathy, with the objects of the Navy League, and a sub-branch of Wellington i« en--1 deavoring to create a widespread inter* est in the movement. Mr. A. P. Whatmuisi, a w<ll-known Wairnrapu settler, has entered into a legal bond to con - * tribute £IOOO towards the cost of a battleship to l>e called the "Abbots* ford," the name of Mr. Whatman's ata* iion, and to he presented to the British iNavy.
