A START AUDfi, TWO TORPEDO DESTROYEKS TO BE ORDERED. Received 5, 10.30 p.m. .Melbourne, February 5. The Federal Government has decided ti» at oim-e order two torpedo destroyers of the River class of the latest approved type. They are wanted to serve a» models for boats to be built afterwards in Australia. It is the intention of tbo fioviriuuent to send to England skilled operative* to Ik? employed by the successful tenderer for the construction of the vessels. On the completion of the contract the men are to return and bo employed in the building of additional vessels locallv.
