| THI-: CIIKRNIAVSKI TRIO. Undoubtedly 011 c of the most n*4eworthy events of the coming musical season will be the first appearance in Xetr Zealand of the Brothers C'herniavski, whose reputation in Loudon and tlio English provinces has grown during the last two seasons in a manner little short of amazing. It might have been supposed that the sun of wonderment had set upon tlve age of musical prodigies, but these three clever young Russian*] have .succeeded in stirring the most rri-! tical of London audiences—an enthusiasm recalling the 'earlier days of Mark Hamburg and Josel Hoffmann. The Brothers Cherniavski are remarkable in more sense? than one; their youthfulne» alone renders their work of exceptional interest. To hear throe boys, aged It'». 13. and 12 respeetivny, interpret such masterpieces as usually tax the mental and physical resources of mature musicians with consumate ease and understanding, is in itself sufficient to suggest genius. T.eo. the "eldest of the trio. | seems, in his mastery of the violin, to have left the sense of years behind him; and Jan, at the pianoforte, to be 'equally free from the usual impedimenta of youth: while little Mischel, with his burden of 12 years, is perhaps the most remarkable of all. Ills handling of tire 'cello having established his right to be reckon«d willi in any programme. Tlio debut nf this interesting trio of brothers is awaited willi very pleasurable anticipa* tinn. Mr. Kdward Rranscombe, so well'known throughout the colonies in connection with the Westminster Glee and Concert Party, and the Scarlet Troubadours, is directing the Cherniavski concert and Tuesday. February Oth, has been lixed for their appearance in the Theatre Rova!, New Plymouth, for only one recital." The box plan of reserved : .eals is now open at the Collier andj Colonial Piano Company's, where second seat tekets may also be purchased. Prices of admission 2, reserved seats 4s.
