As previously notified, the catalogue for this sale was very large, which, coupled with the fact that hides are now receiving proper attention from the vendors, enabled nic to convince more buyers to attend, there ; heing no doubt that the quantity as welf as the quality offering is a special 1 inducement for them to attend. The catalogue comprised 202 bales and 302 sacks wool, 5832 sheepskins, 2100 hides, 43 casks, 3 barrels and GO tins of tallow, and 5862 calfskins, besides the usual assortment of horsehair, bones, horns, etc. Owing to the fires throughout the district last year, a large portion of the wool from the back country was very badly log-stained, and there is not much demand for this class at present. Wool advanced about J /od per I pound since November sale. Sheev | iskins were on a par with last sale. There was an excellent competition for hides, prices advancing from %d to Id for cow and '/id to J /jd for ox, the prices realised being the highest for the last twelve months.
