TAX ON DIAMONDS.
IX GERMAN SOUTHWEST AFRICA. [! Received 29, ll.lio p.m. I* , Berlin, January 29. I According to an imperial decree, all diamonds found in German South-west ■Africa must be handed to the colonial 'authorities for sah'. The authorities ■deduct one-third of the price as a tax, 'besides a percentage to defray trading •expenses, and pay the residue to the 'mining companies. Diamonds may be withheld from sale to prevent depreciation.
It is stated that a diamond market ■will shortly bo established in Berliu, with German polishers.
