ENGLISH LABOR CONFERENCE
DEALING WITH POVERTY. CHARGE OX UNEARNED INCOMES. TAXING LAND VALUES. Received 28, 11.5 p.m. London, January 28. At tihe Labor Party's conference at Portsmouth, Mr. Keir Hardio, M.P., presiding, Mr. Philip Rhowden, M.P., demanded that the cost of dealing with poverty should lest ou unearned incomes.
A resolution moved by Mr. Ramsay Mao Donald, M.P., was carried, opposing increased taxation of the masses and urging a super-tax on large incomes, special taxes on State-conferred monopolies, and increased estate legacy duties, as a. substantial beginning of taxation of la«id values.
