GREAT OUTPUT IN 1000 PREDICTED CALCULATION PLACES NUMBER AT 75,000 MACHINES. NEW YORK, December (I. Careful calculation of the production of automobiles in America next year places the output of all the factories close to 75,000 machines. This total product valued approximately at £120,000,000, will be built by 25*3 manufacturers, which means mat an automobile will be marketed for about every 1000 of population in the country and that Ithe machine will average. £l5O iu price. This inllux of automobiles into the American market will amount to nearly half as many automobiles as have been acquired since the sale of automobiles began, the number already; owned lieing about 150,000. Of the next year's product the large proportion will be built by comparatively few inunufaetaring concerns. The product of the Maxwell-Briscoe Motor Company, it is expected will be 0000 machines, or about 12 per cent, of the total American product, and its value will be. £8,000,000. These figures are significant when the large number of manufacturers is taken into consideration.
" The bugaboo of threatening over production in the automobile industry is nothing new," said Benjamin Briscoe, who has just returned from California, where he conducted negotiations for the erection of a fourth Maxwell-Briscoe factory. "The same cry was raised when tlic industry was just beginning to see its own possibilities. "It will require three years to satisfy the requirements of the home markets. When that has been done—and we are a long way from it—there is the foreign market, and then the commercial vehicle, which will keep us busy for a long time to come."
