DUNEDIN NORTH ELECTION.
(PETITION NOT TO BE PROCEEDED ' WITH. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. The present position in regard to the 'Dunedin North election 'petition is unUerstood to be that both parties concerned jointly examined the rolls under 'the sanction of an order of a Judge of 'the Supreme Court. After investigation, Messrs. Solomon, Woodhouse and iDownio Stewart came, to the conclusion •that in the ultimate result there was u majority of at least one or two votes. Mr. Barclay's contention as to the duplicate votes apparently had been correct, and he would be entitled to the votes lie claimed, but the other votes given 'to him, which would be rightly disallowed, would counterbalance the gain. Mr. 'Solomon has advised' that the petition Ha' not. proceeded with, which advice Mr. Bhirclay accepts The position will be explained to the Court to-morrow.
