AUSTRALIANS CRITICISED.
SOME HOXEST HOME TRUTHS. AL'STIULIA AX J) SPQKT. ; l'ertli, January iO. Count Moracr, ConsuMieneral for Sweden, who is returning to that countrji, in'the course of an interview, candidly criticised Australia. He "expressed surprise that so little importance: was attached in Australia, to the winning of the Xobcl Prize by Professor liutlicrford. It did not appear to realise that this was the tlrst time anyone outside of Kurope had gained the distinction. Canada and America with ull their clever men could not secure the prize.
He was afraid that Australia thought more of sport and paid more attention to a boxing man like Johnson.
Asked if Australia were likely to get. many immigrants from Sweden, he sail he did not think so, and he would do* his best to prevent it. Many statements circulated to induce immigrants to come were unfair. He could not see how n man without money could hope to succeed on land in Australia.
