Sladden and I Palmer for survey work in the Cemetery for a period not exceeding one week. WORKS COMMITTEE. That Mrs. Campbell's application for repairs to footpath in Gover Street be reterred to the Borough Engineer to report upon; that the Borough Engineer be instructed to repair the lootpath near tin; intersection of Kulford .Street and Mount Edgecombe Street, as requested by Mrs. Pcrrv; that the District Engineer, Public * Works Department, be informed that tiie Council trust that be will replace the ironbark planks supporting the clock bells with steel girders, and that after the necessary repairs have been greeted to the satisfaction of the Borough Engineer tlie Council will -thereafter maintain tho clock "with the exception of any repairs becoming necessary through defects in the clock tower; that permission lx?. given to the iUas Company to extend! their coal-shed in accordance with the plan submitted dispensing with the brick walk, the Council being that a full compliance with ■ the building by-laws will )h>. attended with great expense to the owners without a corresponding benefit to the com- ! niunity; that before dealing with Mr. jX. Barnitt be informed that the Council cannot •ee its way to accept his oiler re procuring metal from his farm. ENGINEER'S REPORT. Mr. Kendall (Borough Engineer) reports:—
•Mr. King's application to dispense with brick walls. —I beg respectfully to suggest that until Mr. King deposits some plan or other more definite particulars showing eixaetly what'he proposes or seeks permission to do or carry out, it h somewhat d'illicult to give him permission for any erection. Of course it may be that he has not yet definitely decided what his actual requirements are, but I venture to say that if he will kindly submit oven a rough draft plan showing in what direction his requirements lie, a decision can then be -easily arrived at. Welwter's filling, Pendarves Street. — This job is nearly completed.
Kerb and Channel, Devon. Street East.—This authorised work is nearing wmpltttion, and I l>eg respectfully to strongly recommend the authorisation of the continuation of the kerb and channel on the north side from Brougham Street to the bridge at a cost of C 75, or if this is/ not possible then kerbing only over the same distance. at a cost of .€4l). Vivian Street cutting near -Mr. If. Weston's.—This job is progressing as 'well as the weather will allow, Mr. Bond's application for asphalt.— I received too late for your last meeting an application from Mr. U. W, Uoml for asphalt footpath in front of his Uardct Street property. This work n carried out would entail a cost of £9.
