AN INFANT'S DEATH. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Duncdin, Last Night. ' The boy ua d Alston, aged four, who sustained serious injury on Deeein'.ier 111 through falling into a tub of boiling water, died in the hospital this morning.

DROWNING FATALITIES. Danncvirke, January 20. At a picnic at Tiraln, four miles from here, some children went into the river to bathe, with the result that Nancy Burke, eight years of age, got out of her depth. Her sister, Florence, lifteeu years old, in trying to rescue her, was also carried away, lioth children -wore "droifned." A very old resident at Marina, named William Walsh, was drowned at Cuslan's ford. He was washed from his horse while attempting to cross. Deceased was TO years of age, and was closely identified with mining in the early days at Buller.

Ohristchurcli, Last Night. Mr. George If. Wright, -pilot at Kniraka, near Kaiapoi, died suddenly at 7 o'clock this morning. The deceased slipped straddlewise on a plank three days ago. and slightly injured himself. He was then attended by Dr. Crnwshaw, who is prepared to give a certificate of death.
