WEST'S -PICTURES.—TO-NIGHT. The .season of pictures and music by West's Pictures and De Uracil's ViccUcgal Orchestra commences at the Theatre Royal this evening. Jinny beautiful lilms will lie displayed, including the lincly-coluurcd series 'entitled " Christinas from die Nativity to the Twentieth Century." A line lot of travel scenes ami views of such places as the Soudan, Xnples, the Riviera, Paris, and Brighton should also prove of interest. The special musical selections by the orchestra include " Jlorniiig, Noon, and Night" (Suppe), and " Andante in G " (Batiste). The orchestra will, as usual, provide appropriate selections to each picture. Films taken in Sydney of the training operations ol the famous athletes, Burns and Johnson; the great series depicting a recent review of the Italian battleships, and views of the cities in Italy destroyed by the recent earthquake, are all included in the programme. The box plans are still on view at the Collier and Colonial Piano 'Company's.
ADA CHOSSLEY. To-morrow morning, at Avery's tile box plan will be opened for tin- Ada Crossley concert which .Mr. J. C. Williamson has arranged to take place at the Theatre Royal on Tuesday night next, when Australia's famous contralto will make her appearance supported by the most powerful combination of concert artistes' 1 that have yet toured New Zealand. Since her hist visit to New Zealand Madame Crossley has successfully visited every part of England and America, and lias starred triumphantly at all the principal musical festivals in Europe in conjunction with Patti, Jlelba, Caruso, Cairn, Plancon, and Bon Davies. Jlr. John Harrison, the tenor with tiro combination is making liimself very popular wilh New Zealand and Australian audiences. Jfr. Percy Grainger has developed the powers he exhibited some five years ago. The baritone, Jlr. Jay Hyan, received no less than five encores for his solo. "The Colleen Bawn" on his first appearance with Madame. Crosslev, which took place at Ballarat before an audience of over 0000 people. The violinist, Mr. Leon Sametini, made a great hit in Sydney and Melbourne. The clever pianist. Jlr. Harold Whittle, is accompanist, llerr Bcnno Slierek received the following wire from Wellington lust night: ''Second concert to-night magnificent house; glorious reception; hundreds seated on organ loft."
