'iraigic) occitpii'd the chair, and anions' Hie guests was the I'riine Minister (Willi. (I. Ward). Short speeches were delivered hy the Mayor, the 'l'rinie Minister, and pioneers. The ken-note was the greatest satisfaction at the progress of South Caiilerlrury during lifty years. •The public rejoicings were very spirited, •and popular enthusiasm was shown in many and various ways.
